ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

The Curriculum in the Junior Division builds upon the basic skills introduced in the previous years and follows a similar structure.  The program develops the child's ability to absorb information, to form ideas, to think independently and to relate the various areas of study to one another.  Students are encouraged to accept personal responsibility for their studies.  They learn to develop a balance between competition and cooperation.

 

Students in Grades 1 to 7 follow a timetable which includes the following courses of study every  week.  French is the primary language of communication and the primary language of instruction at these grade levels. Fifty percent (50%) of the following courses are taught in French and the other half is taught in English:

  • Français (first language)

  • English (first language)
  • Mathématiques / Mathematics
  • Sciences / Science
  • Histoire / History
  • Géographie / Geography
  • Informatique / Computer Studies
  • Musique / Music
  • Musique électroacoustique /Computer Music

  • Musique instrumentale (orchestre) /Instrumental Music (band)
  • Ats visuels / Visual Arts
  • Art dramatique / Drama
  • Éducation physique / Physical Education
  • Santé et sécurité / Health and Safety
  • Éducation civique / Character Education
  • Méthodologie / Method of Study
  • Trosième langue (Mandarin ou Espagnol)/
  • Third Language (Mandarin or Spanish)
