The School Crest

The crest is a symbol. Those who know it know it in their heart and soul.  It speaks with its colours and its design.  It also speaks with its history.

White

A symbol of clarity and luminosity represents dawn, a new beginning, everything that starts and is promising, like children who begin their life.  White is appropriate in this context as education begins the social, intellectual and moral life of the student.

Blue

The colour of the sky, the oceans and the multitude of lakes in Canada, symbolizes the boundless potential of childrens creative imagination. Blue is also the colour of harmony and stability, which entails the attachment of the students to La Citadelle.

Red

The colour red symbolizes warmth, vitality and enthusiasm, as well as the eagerness and drive that motivate the students of La Citadelle.

Visually, the three sections of the crest represent the diversity of our Canadian population and the commitment of La Citadelle to uphold multiculturalism and the respect of human rights.  The juxtaposition and parity between the top two sections of the crest symbolize the absolute bilingual nature of the school. The maple leaf, our national emblem, epitomizes the Canadian roots of  La Citadelle and its curriculum. The C stands for La Citadelle; embracing the globe, it depicts the school?s educational philosophy as open to the world.  The lion is the symbol of courage, loyalty, nobility and the fair play that characterize all members of our school community. Together, all of the crest's components exemplify the importance of La Citadelle within the framework of our Canadian heritage.
