As you may know, every LII (Grade 10) student must complete a major IB MYP project in which he/she must come up with, plan, and execute an event from start to finish. This must be done on his/her own in order to complete the requirement for the IB MYP Diploma.
My project consists of organizing a family fundraising event for the entire school that will allow us, with the funds raised, to purchase new and exciting equipment for our new school gym.
In the process, I have researched different companies for the purpose of the event and selected Dave & Buster’s, an arcade/restaurant, as the most appropriate setting. Furthermore, I documented my plan of action and obtained the various approvals from my advisors and the school administration. I have also reserved the facility from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on May 15th, 2016, selected the menu, including a variety of appetizers, entrees, and unlimited soft drinks, coffee, and tea. Having completed all of the calculations, I set the cost of tickets to $35 for students under 10 years of age, $40 for students between ages of 10 and 18, and $50 for adults.
This is the first event planning project of this magnitude organized by a student at La Citadelle and I hope that you will all support my initiative and participate by bringing along your children, relatives, and friends. It is all for a great cause; it will strengthen our bonding and heighten our school spirit. Dave & Buster’s is for everyone and it offers a variety of games geared for very young, young, and mature people of all ages.
